Flower care

Blue Watering Can with Water

Watering

  • Fresh Water: Start with a clean vase with no bacteria and fill it with fresh, room-temperature water.
  • Daily Check: Check the water level daily and top up with fresh water as needed.
  • Flower Food: Optionally, add floral preservative to the water to extend the vase life of your hydrangeas.
  • Change the water in the vase every 2-3 days to prevent bacterial growth.
  • Clean Vase Again: Before refilling, clean the vase to ensure a fresh start.

Hand Cutting Flower Stem

Cut Stems

  • Cut Stems: Trim the stems at a 45-degree angle using sharp scissors or floral shears. This allows for better water absorption.
  • Remove Leaves: Remove any leaves that would be submerged in the water, as they can promote bacterial growth.
  • Re-trimming: repeat cutting the steam an inch every 2-3 days to avoid bacteria cause a stem blockage

Thermometer Temperature

Temperature

  • Cool Location: Place your vase in a cool spot away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Hydrangeas prefer temperatures around 60-70°F (15-21°C).
  • Misting: mist the hydrangea petals with water to maintain humidity.
  • No airflow: place the vase in a location with minimal airflow to prevent the dehydration of the flowers.
  • Avoid Drafts: Keep hydrangeas away from drafts, as sudden temperature changes can cause wilting.

Wilted flower

  • Submerged Heads: If the hydrangea heads appear wilted, you can submerge them in room-temperature water for 20-30 minutes to rehydrate.
  • Trim the Stems: After rehydrating, trim the stems again by about an inch while keeping them submerged. This fresh cut will promote better water absorption.
  • Patience: Reviving a dehydrated hydrangea may take some time. Be patient and allow the flowers to rehydrate and regain their freshness gradually.
