Why altitude decides quality

Hydrangea quality is written in the mountain. At 2,200 meters, cool nights slow the plant down: the head fills with more florets, the white stays clean without green shadows, and the stem lignifies — a woody stem hydrates better and holds a heavy head upright through a week of event work. That is why high-altitude Colombian white hydrangea is a fixture in premium markets from Miami to Amsterdam to Tokyo.

White as a canvas: the tinted universe

Every tinted hydrangea starts white. Through absorption tinting and hand-painting — airbrush gradients, bicolors, metallics — a white crop becomes a full palette. At San Isidro that palette spans 36 tint families and 23 techniques: 255 references, each photographed true-to-color in our catalog. For brand events we regularly match specific reference colors.

Care on arrival (pass this to your customer)

1. Cut 2–3 cm off each stem at a diagonal with a clean, sharp blade.
2. Deep, clean water — hydrangeas drink more than almost any cut flower. Change it every two days.
3. Cool spot, no direct sun, away from ripening fruit.
4. A dehydrated head is not a dead head: soak the whole bloom in cool water for 30–45 minutes. Hydrangeas drink through their petals.
