Colombia is the leading flower supplier to the United States, and most of its hydrangeas grow in the highlands of Antioquia. San Isidro, a family-owned farm in La Ceja, ships hydrangeas to US importers, wholesalers, florists and event companies: natural white, our flagship, and 255 hand-tinted colors, graded by head size and packed the day they are cut.

How hydrangeas get from Colombia to the US
- Air freight to a US gateway. Most Colombian flowers enter the United States through Miami, where importers, brokers and cold-storage facilities specialize in perishables. Other gateways are possible depending on your forwarder.
- Inspection on arrival. Under USDA rules, imported cut flowers must be made available for inspection at the port of first arrival and stay there until released (7 CFR 319.74-2). Your customs broker handles the entry.
- Onward to you. From the gateway, your forwarder or wholesaler moves the boxes by refrigerated truck or domestic air to your cooler.
Who we work with in the US
- Importers and wholesale houses that want a steady weekly program of white and tinted hydrangeas.
- Florist chains and online florists that need consistent grades and box counts.
- Event and wedding companies that design with exact colors: send a Pantone or a photo and we confirm the match with pictures before you commit.
Why buy direct from a Colombian farm
- Year-round supply. The Andean climate barely changes, so we harvest 52 weeks a year, about 50,000 stems a week.
- Altitude quality. At 2,200 m, cool nights give fuller heads, deeper color and woody stems that travel well.
- Colors nobody else stocks. 36 tint families in light, regular and dark, plus 23 painting techniques such as Bicolor, Metallic, Antique and Tie Dye.
- Seasonal ideas for US holidays. See our seasonal idea book for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and the Fourth of July.
Frequently asked questions
Can I import hydrangeas from Colombia to the USA directly from a farm?
Yes. San Isidro Hydrangeas Farming in La Ceja, Antioquia, ships hydrangeas to US importers, wholesalers, florists and event companies. Send your arrival airport, grades, colors and weekly volume to ventas@cultivossanisidro.com or WhatsApp +57 311 367 6027 for a quote.
How do Colombian flowers enter the United States?
Mostly by air through Miami. Imported cut flowers must be presented to USDA inspectors at the port of first arrival and remain there until released; a customs broker files the entry.
Do I need an import permit for cut hydrangeas?
USDA rules for cut flowers (7 CFR 319.74) are based on inspection at the port of arrival rather than a general permit, with special conditions for some genera such as chrysanthemums. Your customs broker confirms the current requirements for your shipment.
How long do Colombian hydrangeas last?
With proper rehydration on arrival — a fresh diagonal cut and deep, cool, clean water — vase life of 7 to 15 days is normal.
What is the minimum order for the US?
It depends on your freight arrangement. Most buyers start with one air-freight trial box to check quality before setting a weekly program.
